A cocktail of fashion, art and sustainable approach was presented by the gowns of the New-York based artist/designer Nikos Floros. His voluminous and elegant dresses with historically-inspired silhouettes aren’t made of fabric but from strips of aluminium cans. Hence the bright colours and a shiny effect. The garments were scattered throughout the exhibition, reminding visitors that luxury is not only about expensive items, but also about groundbreaking ideas. ImageImage

Renowned Artist Floros is Honory Artist @ 5th Int’l Luxury Please Fair, Vienna

Renowned Greek artist Nikos Floros presented his internationally known creation: “The Costume of Queen Elisabeth I” as an honoree artist at the 5th International Luxury Please Fair.  The Fair concluded on Sunday night at Hofburg Winter Palace in Vienna.
The Greek artist was invited by the organizer of the exhibition Gerard Krispl for the second consecutive year with his internationally popular sculpture. It has been awarded by the Metropolitan Museum of New York along with most of his works.  The artist used his own unique technique with materials from recyclable soda cans.
As he stated to ANA – MPA in Vienna, Nikos Floros is currently working on a great series comprised of 12 pieces which are 1.85 m high and two meters wide.  The series is themed after the stolen Parthenon Marbles that are located at the London British Museum.  He is using recyclable material from soda cans in silver.  As a surrealist sculptor, he takes pop-art elements such as soda cans and transforms everyday-use objects into art, such as silk fabric. Using original materials in his projects, he has taken part in many exhibitions around the world earning international acclaim.
The visual artist believes art must serve as an ambassador for Greece abroad, especially after the wave of defamation of the nation during the past months. He believes that there are splendid Greek artists and young talent who have a lot to offer in the international world of art.
His exhibition on the occasion of the Maria Callas Year in 2007 for the 30th anniversary since her death, was an important highlight in his career.  He presented twelve sculptures inspired by outfits of the great Greek soprano.
Nikos Floros was born in Tripolis  and grew up in Athens. He studied fine arts in Paris.
